Welcome back to longshots. Trying to pick apart the weekend racing and find those elusive big priced winners or places. It's hard enough trying to find shorter priced winners, but I've always found it's been my niche hitting big priced placed horses and the odd winner to turn a profit in my betting over the last few years. We ended up +1.2pts in profit last weekend with 4 selections. 2 placed horses at 16/1 (Highway One O One) and 20/1 (Mister Malarky) gave us the profit, with Highway One O One catching the eye with a view to stepping up in trip next time. Clemencia travelled well before fading after a recent fall the run before, and Ask Dillon just wasn't quick enough on the flatter track at Wetherby. We go again....
Aintree 2:15 Betway Grand Sefton Handicap Chase -2m5f
The Champion Novices Handicap Chase at Ayr in April might be a decent little race to follow in terms of handicappers this year. Whilst it won't produce graded winners, there will be a scattering of decent handicappers in that race including Dublin Four (won at Newbury yesterday well) and the winner One More Fleurie - who bombed out at Ascot but wouldn't write him off just yet. Another horse worth following from that race would be the 2nd MAC TOTTIE who runs in the Grand Sefton tomorrow. Trained by Peter Bowen, who has had success over the Grand National fences and enjoys targeting horses at the course, he ran dismally on his first outing this season at Fontwell. As mentioned before, I don't mind giving a horse 2nd chance after their first outing of the season, and with Sean Bowen on board - I expect a good run from the 2nd season chaser. A consistent horse who jumps well, he looks an ideal Aintree type and with the ground drying I think 22/1 is a fair price each way for him with Hills paying 5 places. An overreaction to his poor run last time out by the bookmakers and we will exploit that.
